Dr. Mitchell joined RGG Cardiology after a brief stint on Maui, helping with the healthcare needs after the Lahaina fires.
He was born in Miami, Florida, and kept “moving west” throughout his education/career. His undergraduate degree is in biochemistry from Florida State University. He attended medical school at Tulane university, where he graduated with Honors, also receiving his master’s degree in public health (MD,MPH).
Internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship took place in Colorado; during fellowship he complemented his clinical training with basic science research for advanced heart failure treatments. He also took full advantage of the location, and became an expert skier and mountain biker.
After fellowship, he kept moving west, settling in Portland, Oregon where he was in a private cardiology practice for 15 years prior to his relocation to maui.
He decided to move to Mobile as the “next and final step” in his career – attracted to the location and to the quality of care and practice at RGG cardiology. As a general cardiologist, he values the breadth of service that he can offer to his patients as part of this impressive team of doctors and support staff.
He and his wife, also a physician, live on the water in Spanish Fort. He has 4 children that span a broad range of ages. In his spare time, he can be working on landscaping or in the garden, fishing, cooking, or just “hanging out” with the family.
